Committed To Zero Carbon

We’ve pledged to reach zero carbon by 2030 and we mean it. Thanks to our location in Herefordshire, we’re very close to nature which fuels our commitment to sustainable practice. This isn’t skin deep either. We’re working towards real change and constantly doing more to reduce our footprint.

Greening Our Studios

  • Renewable Energy
All our energy comes from renewable sources, whether from our solar panels or our energy supplier. Our lighting is all LED and we rarely require heating thanks to the level of insulation. With solar panels extended across a second roof in spring 2024, we’re on track to generate
80-90% of our energy needs from natural sunlight.
  • Biodiversity
We’ve planted fruit trees and hedging to attract more insects and birds. The added bonus is that they make our outdoor lunches prettier too!
  • Recycling
All of our food waste is recycled on site and we take care to recycle as many other materials as possible, from paper and tins to crisp packets and pens. This approach extends to our obsolete IT equipment too. We work with National IT Disposal which securely removes all data from our old kit before it is recycled and reused.
  • Car Charging
There are three electric charging points available and we currently have two electric cars in our fleet.

Sharing Our Passion

  • Green Hosting
Our websites are hosted on servers powered by 100% renewable energy. The data centres we use are also employing the latest technological innovations to further reduce consumption.
  • Mindful Approach, Carbon-Balanced
When it comes to print quantities and formats we think environment-first, and we always print on FSC-certified and recycled papers, using vegetable inks via our sister company Orphans Press. They are certified as a Carbon-Balanced Printer by the World Land Trust, a designation only achieved by a handful of printers.
  • Supporting Herefordshire Wildlife Trust
We are corporate partners of HWT which is taking action to recover our landscapes, including The River Wye. The charity also connects residents and businesses with the nature on their doorstep and inspires everyone to champion wildlife.
  • On The Business Agenda
As a member of the county’s Greener Footprints initiative, we’re helping raise the profile of environmentally-conscious business, sharing our activities and learning from others. Our managing director, Helen Bowden, also sits on the Herefordshire Business Board and advocates for greener ways of working.

It’s A Team Thing

  • Responsible Travel
We’re in the sticks but the team makes full use of the nearby train station and others have car-share arrangements which help limit our fuel emissions.
  • Nature Volunteering
From litter-picking on our home patch to volunteering with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust to measure water pollution, we’re actively getting involved in green issues.
  • Sustainable Eating
We’re trying to eat in a more environmentally-conscious way, including opting for vegan, vegetarian or flexitarian diets, as well as cooking more from scratch and reducing single use plastic (tin foil and cling film are our pet hates!). For those who like a takeaway lunch, we have a stash of tupperware boxes at the ready.
