Lodge Farm Kitchen handmakes luxury freezer meals using local produce which you would usually find in farm shops and delis. When they arrived at our door, they knew they needed to update their web presence but one question loomed large: was it the right time to commit to ecommerce? Together, we worked through the options and agreed that direct web sales presented a huge opportunity. eighteen73 served up a fantastic online shop, which we have since helped grow through proactive marketing, product development and search engine optimisation.

Beautifully On-Brand Site

Strong sustainable principles underpin the Lodge Farm Kitchen brand, from the packaging to the ingredients, and they offer a healthy, homemade option for busy people who love good food. Their new site is built in WordPress, with the WooCommerce shopping platform used to power the online shop. The design reflects their high quality positioning, conveys their story and showcases their meals. We art directed the photography to ensure a consistent and appealing look and feel to appeal both to end-consumers and support their relationships with trade customers, as well as social media marketing.

Practical, Easy To Use CMS

The CMS is designed to be super-easy to use so key tasks can be quickly completed, such as adding new products, creating new product categories and making discount codes. Their team can quickly access the latest orders, check progress on order fulfilment, as well as generating invoices and other documentation, from packing slips to shipping labels. Analytics are available instantly for monitoring performance.

Customer Experience & Product Development

We worked closely with the team to create a positive customer experience, for instance, steering the brand collateral which is inserted into each delivery. This promotional piece highlights Lodge’s sustainable credentials and provides recommendations, such as advice on how to compost the cardboard box.

We also recommended the launch of themed Meal Boxes and researched competitor offerings as well as relevant search keywords before optimising the pages to raise online visibility. These product bundles have proved a popular option. Noting that a good proportion of customers were giving Lodge’s meals as gifts, we made online gift vouchers available to buy on the site as an alternative present option.

Proactive Marketing

To drive traffic we initially optimised the site for the search engines and then moved onto devising and managing the social media strategy. This includes weekly posts and reels, as well as brand collaborations and influencer partnerships to extend reach, grow follower numbers and create clickable content.

To further engage both customers and trade, we are responsible for creating their regular e-newsletters, including special offers, recipes and news from their kitchen garden. Integrating MailChimp with WooCommerce has enabled e-news sales conversions to be tracked as well as the facility to send ‘abandoned cart’ notifications to remind customers to complete their purchases.

We have also helped build relationships with key trade press, arranging product sampling and reviews.

Tasty Results

Our work has increased traffic to the website by 46% with Instagram followers increasing by a whopping 485% and Facebook followers by 20%, which has all contributed to a consistent growth in sales.
