Crafting A Stand-Out Interiors Brand

The Brief
Before ‘natural’ became fashionable, Edward Bulmer was a pioneer. As a leading interior designer and architectural historian, he’s not jumping on a bandwagon – he helped create it. And his paint is unflinching in quality and provenance. It’s breathable, healthy and genuinely kind to the planet (no greenwashing here, thank you).
He came to us with a logo, a fabulous product and an interesting story. Our job? To transform these assets into a distinctive brand identity and to drive online sales.


The Most Beautiful Tins In Town
First, the brand’s look and feel. We needed to communicate the expertise of the well-regarded ‘colourman’, alongside a love of nature and heritage. Our modern interpretation of an apple tree formed the inspiration for the most beautiful paint tins in town. With a defined colour palette and set of typefaces, we threaded the look and feel through their print collateral, from the colour cards to their striking advertising – art-directed by yours truly.



An Award-Winning Eco Friendly Site
Designing and building the ecommerce site, we focused on combining high performance with an engaging experience. Central to the site are the brand’s no-nonsense environmental ethos and its role as a source of design inspiration. And it scooped The Good Web Guide Award 2021 for the ethical category.
Boosting Orders
Many of the colours are available in different shades, such as 60% pigment. The client was keen to encourage more customer sampling of these shades. We enhanced the sample pot ordering process, making it more visible, increasing orders of shade samples by 48%.
Optimising Performance
Behind the scenes, we work to improve on-site conversions and search engine performance, as well as handling automated email marketing. Interrogating the data informs our creative approach to conversion rate optimisation, launching regular improvements to both the site and branded communications. Once implemented, enhancements are monitored for effectiveness.
