Rebooting an established family brand

The concept for Chunc was sparked by personal experience when the Smith family were unable to find a wheelchair offering the necessary postural support for their daughter. The company started in the late nineties and soon revolutionised the way children’s wheelchairs were designed and built. Without an internal marketing team in place, Chunc came to us for an overarching marketing strategy, brand refresh, new website and print marketing collateral.

Developing The Brand Story

We started by digging into the story behind Chunc – we love how their products come from a place of understanding exactly how their customers feel. Following discussions and workshops, we moved forward their positioning, developing a new strapline ‘the posture & mobility specialists’, supported by key brand language, and made their family story central to their marketing.

Refreshing The Brand Look & Feel

Chunc has a distinct logo but wanted to modernise the overall look and feel of the brand. We needed to reflect Chunc’s commitment to making exceptionally high quality, innovative products as well as its friendly, one-to-one service. To achieve this, we introduced a new colour palette and approach to typography. We also created sub-brands for each of their chairs to give more individual character. 

Shooting New Imagery

Chunc has an excellent selection of product shots but was lacking lifestyle photography which showed the chairs in action. We commissioned new photography and sourced models with disabilities. Location choice was critical as we needed to show the chairs in use in a variety of environments.  The new images really bring the products to life whilst communicating Chunc’s warm and welcoming personality.

New Print & Digital Collateral

We’ve worked with Chunc on a range of collateral, including a clean, easy to use website through to a stylish print brochure. These marketing materials bring together the refreshed visual identity and our new approach to Chunc’s content and positioning.

A Fresh Marketing Strategy

Whilst the company recruited a marketing manager, we provided communications support. We drafted their marketing strategy and then began on the delivery, including revitalising their social channels, establishing new brand partnerships, launching an e-newsletter, initiating an influencer campaign, supporting their attendance at trade exhibitions and developing ideas to source more user-generated content.
