Who are Black Mountains College?
Black Mountains College was born out of a deep desire to address the climate and ecological crises, a cause we all are invested in and passionate about. They are a unique and innovative organisation, invested in their community and with the capacity to create real change. It gives us enormous satisfaction partnering with and supporting an institution that makes such an important impact and we aim to help them to continue to innovate.


The Challenge
Before partnering with eighteen73, Black Mountains College faced challenges with their brand identity. As a rapidly growing organisation, branding no longer aligned with their values or vision. The existing brand palette lacked consistency, accessibility, and a clear representation of the institution’s identity.


The website, too, had become outdated—visually plain, difficult to navigate, and structured in a way that made updates cumbersome. Without in-house expertise in branding, web design, or development, the BMC marketing team recognised the need for professional guidance in order to create a more cohesive, engaging, and user-friendly digital presence

Solving The Problem
As a registered charity, Black Mountains College aimed to maximise their investment while ensuring financial prudence. The new website needed to be accessible, user-friendly, and visually appealing. It serves as a vital tool for attracting users and managing course applications, necessitating an exceptional user experience.
Through detailed workshops, we identified the college’s strategic goals and challenges, allowing us to design a solution that met user needs and aligned with organisational objectives. We restructured the site and established a clear content hierarchy to facilitate effective navigation and communication.
Built on WordPress, the new site enables the BMC team to easily manage content. Performance and security were prioritised, resulting in a fast, reliable platform that enhances internal processes.


What did we achieve?
Many of the colours are available in different shades, such as 60% pigment. The client was keen to encourage more customer sampling of these shades. We enhanced the sample pot ordering process, making it more visible increasing orders of shade samples by
Why Us?
The college previously worked with a website management company based over three hours away from their location in rural mid Wales. However, following an acquisition, responsiveness declined, and the geographical distance made it difficult to build a strong working relationship.
