A big slice of what makes eighteen73 a team of like-minded people and binds us together is what we do as a business to give back to our community. This has always been a cornerstone of our business values. We have ongoing local relationships with organisations such as Herefordshire Wildlife Trust,  Leominster Museum and Leominster in Bloom. And occasionally we also look further afield, as was the case when we cajoled 50 or so ‘volunteers’ to walk 36 plus miles in a day along Offa’s Dyke in consecutive years to raise money for an orphanage in Kenya. Many blisters were sacrificed along the way!

Recently, we have been working closely with Herefordshire Community Foundation (HCF), including the design and build of their website. HCF is an independent charity that raises funds locally and awards grants to those most in need across the county, where relevant to the donor’s wishes.

With so many deserving causes, businesses are often faced with the challenge of where to funnel their support.  That’s why eighteen73 is pleased to be one of the early adopters of the new HCF ‘Business For Good’ fund. Companies donate a sum per staff member each year, and then HCF considers where best to channel funds. We think this is a great idea as HCF is so well positioned to make wise decisions and provide meaningful support to lots of deserving causes. Businesses are updated on where collective funds have been allocated so there is a tangible sense of outcomes. HCF also make it easy for local organisations, small and large, to apply for funding support. We would very much commend Herefordshire-based businesses to join  ‘Business for Good’ as an effective and collective way of making a meaningful difference in our county.
